As a recreational therapist who has craved connecting with others in the field for my entire career, I could not be more excited that increasing numbers of recreational therapists are jumping online to share, create, and advocate.
It is an incredibly exciting time to be in the field of TR, so what a better way to share that passion and enthusiasm than hopping on social media and joining the growing community.
If the world is evolving at an ever-changing pace, so should the field of Therapeutic Recreation.
I have crafted a list of 13 Therapeutic Recreation Instagram accounts that have inspired me. This list is most certainly not all of the amazing TR social media accounts out there. My hope is that by sharing these ones I will encourage you to start, or continue your own online search.

(Note: Accounts are listed alphabetically)
1. ATRA
The American Therapeutic Recreation Association is (clap) on (clap) it. Their account is probably one of the first TR accounts I started following and with good reason. They are constantly providing the TR community with professional updates and continued education opportunities. Best of all, there Takeover Tuesday feature RT’s all over the country showcasing “a day in the life”. Check them out here.
2. DannyPettry
Known for his online courses, monthly newsletter, and fun posts Danny Pettry is one to follow. Check him out here.
3. Georgia TR Association
I follow almost every state/provincial association I can, and I have to say it – Georgia might be the ripest peach of them all. In all seriousness, GTRA has done a fantastic job creating an inspiring and educational account that showcases the awesome work RT’s in Georgia are doing. I especially love reading all about their work towards licensure! Check them out here.

You can check out my interview with them about their amazing new RT business here and there Instagram here.

Pennyfor_mythoughts is another up and coming TR inspired blog that I absolutely adore. Morgan had written a post for my blog (which was an absolute hit in the RT community). 10. Recandchill
